So there are many of you who loyally watch these shows and, like me, make continual comments to the television whether anyone else is in the room or not. Alternately, there are many of you who do not have the time to keep up with reality TV – there are too many shows, your tivos runneth over, you have kids and can’t remember what it’s like to watch anything beyond Dora the Explorer (you know who you are) – but you also want to be “in the know.” That’s fine. Let me help you understand.

The Voice: Fall Edition

We are now more than a month into in Season 3 of The  Voice, a show that is now tempting fate by having two seasons a year. So You Think You Can Dance tried this once, and it’s been downhill for that show ever since. The creative minds behind The Voice, however, have made some changes this fall. In the battle rounds, the coaches had a chance to steal the eliminated contestants from other teams to move on to the new “knockout” rounds. The “coaches steal” didn’t really  matter though – the coaches ended up booting the contestants they stole in the knockout rounds anyway, but I did appreciate the twist and momentary suspense. Now we are moving on to the “live playoffs,” where the teams will be whittled down to from the Top 20 to the Top 12.  Seems like the season is moving at rapid pace now that the World Series is over, and it looks as though The X Factor may have one upped The Voice by starting their live shows a week earlier, pulling audiences in quickly. I believe The Voice will be competitive though in terms of viewership, and I have a few favorites that I think will keep people watching and voting, but I will save those opinions for the upcoming performance shows. Looking forward to it!
