So there are many of you who loyally watch these shows and, like me, make continual comments to the television whether anyone else is in the room or not. Alternately, there are many of you who do not have the time to keep up with reality TV – there are too many shows, your tivos runneth over, you have kids and can’t remember what it’s like to watch anything beyond Dora the Explorer (you know who you are) – but you also want to be “in the know.” That’s fine. Let me help you understand.

The X Factor - Top 12 Revealed

After some difficult soul searching by the X Factor judges, one act from each of their teams went home this evening. Each judge picked a “bottom 2” to sing for their lives and then discussed how difficult it is to send someone home. The results show was far too long and excruciating to recap fully, but here is a quick synopsis:

Team Demi: It came down to Willie Jones and CeCe Fray. CeCe sang a beautiful version of Irene Cara’s "Out Here on My Own,"  and Willie chose “You Don’t Know Me,” by Ray Charles.  I’m not sure how this was ever a tough decision, but Demi lets Willie go. Thank you!

Team Demi’s remaining contestants are: Paige Thomas, Jennel Garcia, and CeCe Frey
-------------------------------------------------

Team LA:  His bottom 2 were David Correy and Jason Brock, which is interesting given Vino had awful reviews last night.  LA (like me) must really enjoy the name. David sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” which I was not a fan of at all, and Jason was far superior with his rendition of “One Moment in Time” by Whitney Houston.  LA surprisingly made the right decision and sent David home.

Team LA’s remaining contestants are: Tate Stevens, Vino Alan, and Jason Brock
-------------------------------------------------

Team Britney:  Brit Brit selected Arin Ray and Diamond White to sing for their lives. Arin chose Whitney Houston’s (big week for Whitney, huh?) “I Look to You,” and I was pleasantly surprised. However, Diamond’s rendition of "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" was just awesome – probably my favorite performance of hers since the season started. Even so, Britney is not going into next week with three teenage girls, so she sends Diamond home. On the whole, I get it, but I felt bad for the kid.

Team Britney’s remaining contestants are: Beatrice Miller, Carly Rose Sonenclar, and Arin Ray
-------------------------------------------------

Team Simon: The bottom 2 groups were Sister C and 1432. Sister C went with "When I Look at You,"  by Miley Cyrus, which was probably better than last night’s performance but still not my fave. 1432 (awful name) took on Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper” and nailed it. Simon, predictably, sent Sister C home.

Team Simon’s remaining contestants are:  Emblem3, Lyric 145 (God help me), and 1432 (soon to be called something else).
-------------------------------------------------

So, there you have it. The Top 12 acts will be back to sing live again next week, and here’s hoping someone tells Khloe to show up for the 8pm results show around 9:30. Til then!
