So there are many of you who loyally watch these shows and, like me, make continual comments to the television whether anyone else is in the room or not. Alternately, there are many of you who do not have the time to keep up with reality TV – there are too many shows, your tivos runneth over, you have kids and can’t remember what it’s like to watch anything beyond Dora the Explorer (you know who you are) – but you also want to be “in the know.” That’s fine. Let me help you understand.

The Voice: Top 12 Revealed!

As the playoffs round comes to a close, this week’s results show will send two people home from each team, taking the Top 20 down to the Top 12 (math is difficult for some). America voted to save two contestants per team, and the coaches will have their own “save” to allow one more artist to advance. Let’s get to it!

Team Adam:
Amanda Brown (take THAT, Cee-Lo) and Bryan Keith are the two contestants chosen by America’s votes.  Adam is left with the “tough” choice between Loren Allred, Joselyn Rivera and Melanie Martinez. He douses Loren and Joselyn with compliments but ultimately saves Melanie. I’m okay with this – she is very unique, and at this point in time every other team has at least one enjoyably unusual artist. Xtina has De’borah, Cee-Lo has Nicholas, and Blake has Michaela. Sure Loren and Joselyn have talent, but this is probably a good call on Adam’s part.
----------------------------------

Team Blake:
America’s vote tally sends Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope through to the next round, leaving Julio Cesar Castillo, Liz Davis and Michaela Page to sweat out the commercial break. Blake, taking the same approach as Adam (and rightly so), saves Michaela. I’m a huge fan of hers, and I would take her over Cassadee any day, so I am thrilled with Blake’s decision.
----------------------------------

Team Xtina:
As a huge surprise to no one, Delicious Dez is the first person to make the Top 12 from Team Xtina. Sylvia Tacoub (yay!) joins him, and Xtina is left with Devyn DeLoera, Adriana Louise and De’borah. If Xtina was one to follow suit, she would absolutely pick De’borah…but we all know that Xtina often goes (foolishly) rogue at this point in the competition, so she saves Adriana instead. Meh.
---------------------------------

Team Cee-Lo:
Trevin Hunt, our beloved gentle giant,  and Nicholas David both advance with America’s votes, which is spot on given their performances the night before. Cee-Lo must now choose between teen heartthrob MacKenzie Bourg, Diego “Bailamos” Val and Cody Belew, also known as my boyfriend. Swoon. We know that Cee-Lo has no intention of saving Diego, so it’s down to Cody and MacKenzie. To my delight, Cee-Lo chooses Cody, and now we have our Top 12.

Next week the three remaining contestants from each team will perform again for that chance to win it all and follow in the footsteps of Jermaine Paul and Javier Colon (who?). Til then!
